Alexander Avila Bouru
Registered Vinyasa and Jivamukti yoga teacher
Alex was born in NYC. He speaks English, Spanish and, of course, French since he became a Parisian! When he was 19, yoga became a natural part of his life. After starting his personal practice at Yoga Vida NYC, he has continued to being drawn to Vinyasa yoga practices.
He then naturally turned to Jivamukti and completed a 300 hour Tearcher Training in India, with Jules Febre. According to Alex, “at first, yoga was just exercise, but with time and practice, [he] became interested in the spiritual aspects of yoga that some of us might, in our modern times, consider rather abstract”.
Alex wants to keep his asana practice fun and intense while including into it spiritual teachings, uplifting messages, mantras and meditation.
“You might also hear some creative, groovy, funky music in my classes, and it will spice up your practice! What you can expect from my classes is a challenging yet soothing effect. The music as described above plays a big part in them and whether you come to one of my Jivamukti or Vinyasa classes, the tempo will be the same. Creativity, flowing movements and freedom will also be involved. Come out and experienced it for yourself. Let the magic happen, lovers, and be true to yourself!”
